“Post artrock rumble that purrs like a new born kitten and shreds your skin like a tiger on speed.”
The Devil Has The Best Tuna

“Imagine Leonard Cohen singing a Billy Corgan ballad while J Mascis turns up the distortion.”
Camden New Journal

Jennie Werlemar (Vocals/Bass) | Kaoru Sato (Guitar/Programming)

A visceral blend of dirty electronica, throbbing garage rock and post-punk prowess make Deathline a formidable beast. The darkly textured mix includes heavy psych, shoegaze and kraut sensibilities with added elements of industrial influences along with Swedish born Jennie’s husky and nonchalant vocal delivery gave way to the press labeling this duo as “Rock Noir” drawing comparisons to Jesus and Mary Chain, Suicide and The Raveonettes with the beguiling front-woman being called a “punk rock Nico”.

After the self-released debut album Sixty-Nine in early 2009 they threw themselves into the live circuit playing shows across the UK and Europe and hit the road for short tours of the US along the East Coast and Midwest before retreating back into the studio to pursue a darker and heavier path which led them to recoding new material with Josiah Mazzaschi (whose credits include Smashing Pumpkins/Built to Spill/Rilo Kiley).

After meeting Josiah at a London show he persuaded the band to come out to record with him in his studio in LA where they band laid down their new material that offers a heavier Desert Rock feel whilst still retaining all of the qualities that made Sixty-Nine A striking record.

The songs are given twisted remixes by The KVB, DangerousClose (Aka Muzz Fenton from Post-Punk Heroes Artery) and draGnet all giving their own fresh take on the single.

“Noir Rock with grinding drums that spit out short sharp burst of venom and a broody as hell bass give this duo a minimal Jesus and Marychain like vibe” Artrocker

"Sixty Nine rams rock’n’roll into electronica in the same delightfully confrontational way that Suicide have been doing for decades, delivering alternate bursts of grotesque beauty and sonic mayhem that insinuate their way into the consciousness." Mudkiss

“Their unceremonious mash-up of guitars and technology sounds like the grinding in the gearbox of the modern world.”
